Desktop Publisher – $19,460
Desktop Publishers use computer software to format and combine text, numerical data, photographs, charts, and other visual graphic elements to produce publication-ready material. Depending on the nature of a particular project, they may write and edit text, create graphics to accompany text, convert photographs and drawings into digital images, and then manipulate those images, design page layouts, create proposals, develop presentations and advertising campaigns, typeset and do color separation, and translate electronic information onto film or other traditional forms.
Graphic Artist – $23,220
Graphic Artists plan, analyze, and create the most effective way of getting a message across in print, electronic, and film media using a variety of methods such as color, type, illustration, photography, animation, and various print and layout techniques. They develop the layouts and production designs of magazines, newspapers, journals, corporate reports, and other publications. They may also produce promotional displays, packaging, and marketing brochures for products and services, design distinctive logos for products and businesses, and develop signs and signage systems for business and government. An increasing number of Graphic Artists also are developing projects for Web pages, interactive media, and multimedia projects. They also may produce the credits that appear before and after television programs and movies.
Web Designer – $31,183
Web Designers design and construct websites incorporating graphic user interface (GUI) features and other techniques. They maintain the design of the website, promos and ad banners, seasonal content specials and custom chat launcher design for partners. Often, they produce graphic sketches, designs, determine size and arrangement of graphics and copy, select style and size of type, and arrange layout based upon available space, knowledge of layout principles, and other design concepts.
Multimedia Designer – $34,139
Multimedia Designers produce sketches, scale models, plans, or drawings that will be reviewed by a Director or Production Manager. They may design props, sets, and costumes; direct set assistants on design interpretations, and advise on other areas of technical production such as lighting and sound in order to make sure that production sets resemble your designs and meet requirements. Jobs can be found in such career fields as television or film production, animation, audio production, and set design, as well as several other multimedia, and production design fields.
Technical Illustrator – $35,935
Technical Illustrators conceptualize and create three-dimensional images, storyboard sketches, and moving illustrations for animated productions, television commercials, movies, computer games, or set and exhibit designs. Technical Illustrators primarily use digital mediums and formatting to create illustrations.
Creative Director – $42,963
Creative Directors are in charge of a creative team that produces artwork to be displayed in magazines, on television, on billboards, on the web, or on products. Creative Directors make sure that their team, which can consist of artists, graphic designers, photographers, copywriters, produce and complete their work on time and to the client’s satisfaction. They also play a major role in the development of a project by making decisions on the visual elements of the project, and by giving the ok on the final selection of models, art, props, colors, and other elements.
